Dark Ages game guide

The main systems in one route, with links to the current DA Overlord catalog and calculators. This page avoids undocumented tactics and sends live social rules back to current in-game sources.

Progression route

Use this as a checklist, not a speedrun
  1. Learn the controls in the Tutorial. Equip the provided gear, speak with the mundanes, and practice the inventory and basic attack before leaving.
  2. Choose a base class deliberately. Compare skills, spells, and stat plans before spending points that gate later learnables.
  3. Combine hunting with useful quests. Use maps and their connections to reach an area, then check its monsters and drops. The quest guide is filterable by progression stage.
  4. Prepare training costs before visiting a trainer. Skill and spell pages publish cataloged requirements; the required items planner combines duplicate reagents, gold, experience, and matched prerequisite learnables.
  5. At insight 99, stop before the permanent choice. Decide whether to remain pure or subpath, finish first-path learnables, and then use the mastering checklist.
  6. Continue through the four Creants and the Medenian path. Use the Grandmaster checklist before the irreversible transition, then price the later AB climb with the ability planner.

  1. Complete the tutorial once. Equip the supplied clothing, boots, and weapon; speak to each mundane; practice moving, attacking, using the area map, and opening the main panels.
  2. Do not rush large experience rewards. Before opening a chest or consumable that grants many insights, confirm your stat plan and any level-limited quests or learnables you still want.
  3. Use base values for progression checks. Stat equipment can help meet a trainer requirement, but subpathing and mastering checks should be compared with equipment removed.

Subpathing lets a character carry learnables from a first class into a second, but resets insight, base stats, HP, and MP. Remaining pure preserves pure-only options. Read the full consequences and thresholds before dedicating.

Religion, politics, citizenship, events, and social play

Live community systems
Current in-game rules take priority.

These systems are central to Dark Ages, but office rules, laws, event schedules, and player-run expectations can change independently of static guides. Use the quest guide for stable citizenship and religious-geas checkpoints, then verify current law boards, temple dialogue, event notices, and community leadership in game.

Useful starting points: citizenship quests, religious geas, arena activities, and daily quests.
